U.S. Notifies Proposed Training and Support Sale to Australia

The U.S. Department of Defense has notified Congress of a proposed Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Australia, covering aircrew and maintenance training, technical support, and related services for F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft.

The estimated total value of the program is $250 million. The package includes classified and unclassified aircrew and maintenance training, protective personnel equipment, technical and logistics support, manuals, publications, training documentation, and other related elements of logistics and program support. No major defense equipment is included in this sale.

According to the official notice, the sale supports U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by assisting Australia, described as a key ally in the Western Pacific, in maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability. The sale is also intended to enhance Australia’s ability to meet current and future threats and increase interoperability with U.S. and allied forces through comprehensive training.
