U.S. Notifies Proposed Sustainment and Electronic Warfare Equipment Sale to Australia
The United States Department of Defense has notified Congress of a proposed arms sale to the Government of Australia, involving equipment and services to support the sustainment of Australia's F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft fleet.
The proposed sale includes sixty Global Lightning—Joint Tactical Terminal—Transceivers (JTT-X), forty Advanced Electronic Warfare systems, and twenty-four Next Generation Electronic Attack Units (NGEAU), along with additional support equipment, software, hardware updates, training, and related logistics services. The estimated total cost of the sale is $2.0 billion.
According to the official notice, the sale is intended to support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by assisting a key ally in the Western Pacific. The sale aims to improve Australia’s capability to meet current and future threats, support coalition operations, and contribute to mutual security goals in the region.
